The Junior League of Rochester is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The organization focuses its volunteer resources on issues affecting Rochester women: improving the health and safety of women, maximizing women's educational and employment opportunities, and developing the potential of teen women.
Promotes adult literacy through volunteer programs in Rochester NY: free tutoring in English language skills including Basic Literacy and ESL/ESOL, English for Speakers of Other Languages. Recruits and trains volunteer tutors for over 20 hours before they begin to teach. LVAR is an affiliate of Literacy Volunteers of America.
The purpose of the group is to find homes for all animals that come through Animal Control in the town of Greece. GRASP is staffed completely by volunteers and is funded entirely by donations from the public. Our animals are either kept in foster homes or boarded with a local veterinary hospital.
